Workshop details

• Guided assignments using assignment cards that you may take home.
• Focus on techniques before lunch, on making a series after lunch.
• Lunch included with the one-day workshops, we get a sandwich and something to drink.
• I naturally share all my experiences with you, and teach you to look at things differently.
• You get my book "Straatfotobijbel" (Photofacts, ISBN 9789492325099) to practice nicely after the workshop.

• This street photography workshop lasts from 10.30am to 2pm (unless otherwise indicated).

What does it cost - and what does it get you?

A workshop with me is not an afternoon of taking pictures. It is a day (or two) in which you learn to look more attentively. You discover how to make images that come in. And you start looking at your own work with a fresher eye.

The price: €295 for a one-day workshop, €695 for a two-day like Paris. But more importantly, it's an investment in yourself as a maker. If you feel your photography is ready for the next step - more direction, more eloquence - now is the time.

I deliberately work with small groups. So there is room for personal attention, questions and feedback. Time for you and your photography.

You don't have to be a professional. Just someone who is curious. Who feels: I want to get more out of my photography, but don't yet know exactly how.

My workshops are for people who have been photographing for some time, or have just started and want to take it more seriously. For anyone who is looking for depth, who dares to ask questions, and is open to feedback and new ways of looking at things.

Allow yourself that depth. Because growing starts with choosing to pay attention, direction and having the guts to take your development seriously.

This workshop can be given in Dutch or English and the group workshop will take place with a minimum of 2 participants.

Deepening after the workshop

After the workshop, you are far from finished! With the book you receive with the workshop, you also get one month of free access to Photofacts Academy, a renowned platform with over 100 photography courses. Of course, you'll first choose my Street Photography course and dive into the world you got so excited about during the workshop (I trust that!). Then have fun immersing yourself in black-and-white photography, for example, or learn more about portraits!

My goal is always that you go home with more than you came with. This is not only because you get my book, but mainly because in my workshops I challenge you to look at things differently.

We do this on the street. The dynamic environment means that you alternate between having to change gear quickly and then having all the time you need to make a great photo. I teach you to respond quickly to changing circumstances. That comes in handy in all kinds of photography and helps both amateurs and professionals. How far you go out of your comfort zone is of course entirely up to you.

My own achievements in street photography? Three books and several monthly lectures at CameraNu and photo clubs around the country. Interviews in various podcasts and columns for Photofacts, for example. And the podcast 30 Minutes Shutter Time. I have plenty to tell and teach you!

The photography workshops are the ideal way to discover a new city, or, alternatively, to photograph with a group in a city you already know.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this street photography workshop suitable for?

The workshop is suitable for both beginner and advanced photographers who want to train their eye and learn to look more creatively, regardless of their technical level.

Do I need an expensive camera to participate?

No. Any camera with which you can set manually and which you know well is suitable - even a good smartphone or compact system camera works fine. Of course, a smartphone works differently and you can set less, also people often react differently to a smartphone. I recommend a camera.

What if it rains during the workshop?

Street photography in the rain often actually produces beautiful, atmospheric images. We adapt the programme to the conditions, but in principle we always go ahead.

How big are the groups?

The groups deliberately consist of a maximum of 5 participants, so there is plenty of personal attention and everyone really gets the space to learn and experiment.

What will I learn during the workshop?

You will learn to look better, make better compositions, work with light and shadow, and shoot more intuitively and confidently in public spaces.

Any guidance or feedback on my photos?

Yes. During the workshop, there is plenty of room for reflection, feedback moments and discussing your photos - both individually and as a group. After the workshop, you may email me 5 photos from the workshop and we can discuss them further (1-on-1) if necessary.

Do I have to walk a lot during the workshops?

We walk through the city and take ample time for photography. The pace is leisurely and tailored to the group, but a reasonable basic fitness level is useful because of the duration. But if we all want coffee in between, that's possible. The average speed of a group of photographers is about 1 kilometre per hour.

Why exactly should I book your workshop?

There are lots of street photography workshops and sometimes they cost only a penny (nice word). I have roughly listed for you why my workshops are slightly different.
