For as long as I can remember, I have been coming to Walcheren, Zeeland. The love goes so far that a few years ago I bought a small chalet there, near Middelburg.
So it feels only natural to share this beautiful city with others. Come along to Zeeland, off-season, and enjoy the city that never gets boring, is perfectly manageable and invites many beautiful photos. I personally prefer to go for a few days, and blow out on the beach, visit the Delta Works. Think of the workshop as a fun way to learn to photograph just a little differently. You come home rested and full of motivation!
The workshops below are for beginners and people who have had a camera in their hands before. I'm sure I can teach you to see things differently!
I prefer to book a 1-on-1 workshop.
"Got a lot of inspiration from Michiel's workshop. He takes you along and helps you overcome the cold feet of photographing other people. Very enthusiastic photographer. Highly recommended!"

Street photography workshop in Middelburg
Middelburg is a hidden gem for street photographers, with its centuries-old charm and atmospheric streets (the Kuiperspoort!) offering you new inspiration at every corner. The city exudes history, with beautifully restored medieval buildings like the town hall and picturesque canals. Whether you are fascinated by old facades or just want to capture everyday street life, Middelburg offers a mix of architecture and human interaction that will give your photos a unique atmosphere.
While looking for the perfect picture, we naturally take a moment to try a fresh Zeeuwse bolus. The city is alive, with the typical Dutch cycling culture and the bustling square full of locals and visitors. The fusion of tastes, sounds and images make Middelburg a great place for any street photographer.
In the workshop, I will teach you to hunt and fish. We will look at lines and photographic compositions. And if you have any questions of your own, we will of course address them too!

About Michiel
I am Michiel Heijmans, professional street photographer. Together with friend Niels, I make the photography podcast 30 Minutes Shutter speed. My new photo book "The Observer" is in shops now (Komma Publishing, 2024).
For Photofacts I previously wrote the book "Straatfotobijbel" (2023). I also write monthly columns for Focus Magazine, the photography magazine of the Netherlands.
From the moment I immersed myself in street photography, I was hooked. I don't leave the house without a camera because street photography can be done anywhere!
