The best moment passes in no time

A project is more than an end result. It is people working together, craftsmanship, something taking shape step by step. That phase is over before you know it, and then all you have left is the handover. A shame, because it is the process that shows what you are worth.

With project photography I capture what happens along the way. What the work looks like, who does it and why it matters. Images you use to show your work to clients, in the trade press, on your website and internally.

I photograph projects in many forms: construction and infrastructure, engineering and installation, renovation and transformation, but equally internal projects such as a refit, a move or the introduction of something new. Whatever the sector, it comes down to the same thing: showing what happens in a way that rings true and stays with people.

A reportage can be a one-off, a half day to capture a milestone. But it often works better if I come back at a few points, so you have the whole course of it in pictures. From the first shovel to the handover.

Good project images work hard. You show clients what you are capable of, you give the trade press material they are glad to run, and you build an archive that keeps you going for years. One reportage gives you images for all your communication, from quotation to annual report.

I come from street photography, so I know how to move unobtrusively through the work without holding anyone up. The work simply carries on and I capture what happens. I respect safety rules and site agreements as a matter of course.
