A good article deserves better than filler images
A photo that brings a face or a place to life, that shows what the text is about. That is editorial photography. Images that work together with the text, made for articles, magazines, annual reports and online publications. Not loose pictures, but a series that goes somewhere.
Who is the main character, what is the place, what is the moment where it all comes together? Those are the questions I work from. Sometimes that is one strong portrait, sometimes a series that takes the reader from beginning to end.
My background is in street photography, the craft of looking and waiting. I see the moment coming and I am ready when it arrives. That way of working translates directly to editorial work, where it is all about honesty and timing.
I work for editorial teams, communication departments, companies with their own magazine or blog, and organisations that want their annual report to be more than figures. Whether it is an interview, a reportage on location or a series of portraits, I deliver images that strengthen the text and stay with readers.
I write as well. I am the author of three photography books, I write columns for the trade press and I host the podcast 30 Minuten Sluitertijd. So I understand how images and text work on each other, and what an editor needs to set a story down properly. And I deliver on time.
What it costs
Half a day € 900 excl. VAT, a full day € 1,800 excl. VAT. Travel costs € 0.50 per kilometre. No hourly rates. For recurring work we can happily make a suitable arrangement.
