In the Midden-Walchers dialect, the now rarely used word “oprèè” means something like “dressing nicely,” and that’s exactly what I thought when I saw this dress fluttering in the wind. Even when you’re cleaning the windows, it’s perfectly fine to make an effort with your outfit. Coincidentally, in the Ouddorps dialect, the word actually means “to clean.”
The flip-flops add a splash of red to the scene. The yellow points the way, and the triangle of dark elements completes the picture. This photo was selected for a group exhibition in Paris (2023) and will travel to Milan in 2024 for a second exhibition. From Domburg to the world!
