I make portraits that go further than a standard photo: they show who someone really is, with attention for character, atmosphere and personal presence. That can be for entrepreneurs, creatives, authors, journalists, or for anyone who wants to show themselves with confidence. What kind of portraits do you make, and who are they for?
How long does a portrait session take and how many photos do you get?
The standard portrait shoot takes an hour and a half.
Depending on your package you get a set number of edited photos; for instance 8 or 14 with a studio portrait.
Location shoots follow a similar structure, with delivery times and selection options we agree beforehand.
What is the difference between a fine art portrait and an environmental portrait?
A fine art portrait focuses on timeless visual language, often in black and white, with attention for light, composition and atmosphere.
An environmental portrait shows you in context: a place or setting that says something about who you are, your work or your personality. Together we choose what suits your story best.
How does the editing work?
After the shoot you select the images you want edited, together with me.
I take care of professional editing so the photos are ready for use on your website, LinkedIn, publications or print.
Although most of my portraits are in black and white, that is of course not a requirement. We agree the editing style beforehand.
Do I need ideas of my own for the shoot?
No, you do not need to bring a concrete plan. The most important thing is the willingness to be seen, I think.
I think along with you about setting, style and presence so the portrait fits what you want to say with the image.
What I often do is create a moodboard together with the person being photographed, on Pinterest.
Where does the shoot take place? Studio or on location?
Portrait shoots can take place at my studio in Wijchen, or somewhere that suits you. That could be outside, in your workspace, your studio or a place that says something about you.
We choose on the basis of what best fits the result you are after.
I often feel tense in front of a camera. How do you make sure I look relaxed?
I understand that very well. I work calmly, without forced poses, and take the time to let a relaxed atmosphere develop.
We talk, we try things out together and we look for what suits you. When you feel at ease you get a portrait that really reflects who you are.
Can you make business or team portraits too?
Yes, I make business portraits and team photos as well. For larger groups I work quickly and efficiently, with attention for how each person comes across.
