After you book I will get in touch as soon as I can to fix a date. Please allow me at least two weeks to prepare, so that I can arrange our model and hoover the studio, to name but two things.
My one-to-one portrait photography workshop in my studio in Wijchen is all about that interplay of light, person and moment.
We work practically, play with shadow and reflection, think out loud and explore the light. No large group, no hurry. Just looking together, photographing, understanding.
A studio full of light, ideas and conversation
Learn to look, to sense and to build with light. My studio in Wijchen is set up to work in, but above all to discover in. We start with a conversation about what you want to learn or where you are stuck. Then we build the light up step by step. Sometimes with one light, sometimes with several. We use what is there: reflections, walls, daylight, perhaps a background roll or a piece of foil that bends the light just differently.
We work with a model, but every now and then I will put you in front of the lens too. Not to pose, but to feel what light does. To feel what it is like to sit in front of the camera. I think that matters enormously if you want to make the right connection. Everything we do we talk through out loud, so that you learn from the process.

Technique and feeling
The one-to-one workshop suits amateur photographers and professionals who want to go deeper into portraiture. Whether you are just starting with flash or already have studio experience, we build on your knowledge and your style.
We talk about settings, light shapers, reflectors and using continuous light or flash. But just as much about posture, connection and calm. About what makes a good portrait, and why a photograph moves you.
This workshop is not a lesson but a conversation about photography, about looking and about choices.
What to expect
We work together for four hours. In that time we build one or more setups, review the images as we go and you come to genuinely understand the light. Half the time we work with the model, the other half we use to look, analyse and try new things.
The focus is on insight. How do you take charge? How do you play with light? How do you trust your own eye? Afterwards you go home with images, but above all with ideas. New ways of looking. Probably a renewed curiosity about portrait photography.

Because learning is personal. In a group you often get less far. In a one-to-one workshop you have all the attention. Everything revolves around your way of working, your style, your questions.
We take the time to look properly at what you want to learn. That might be light, or direction, or how you bring depth and calm into your portraits. The best moment of a session like this is the one where the light is right and the portrait breathes.

You do not become a good portrait photographer overnight. You grow by doing, learning, talking and looking. This one-to-one workshop is an investment in your development as a photographer. We work intensively together for four hours in my studio in Wijchen. We speak briefly beforehand by email or phone to tune the session, and during the workshop we work with a model so you put everything into practice straight away.
This personal workshop costs € 595 incl. VAT, including the model and the conversation beforehand.
