Michiel Heijmans (1974) is a photographer, author and speaker. His work moves at the intersection of portrait, street and documentary photography. People are at the centre of his images: raw, honest, at ease, always real. His workshops are known for their depth and their personal approach.
In 2025 he appeared as a street photography expert on the Dutch RTL 4 programme Het Perfecte Plaatje.
Michiel teaches workshops in the Netherlands and abroad (including Paris and London), published The Observer and the Straatfotobijbel and the e-book De Wet van de Straat, and hosts the photography podcast 30 Minuten Sluitertijd.
His experience as the former COO of the SEO company Yoast means he moves easily between content, teaching and strategy.
He works both independently and on commission, and speaks regularly at events, including for CameraNu and various photo clubs in the Netherlands and Belgium. He also gives photography workshops and talks for companies and schools.
