Street photography workshop MAASTRICHT
Maastricht carries its elegance as a matter of course, at an unhurried Burgundian pace. In street photography the city reveals itself not in spectacle but in small deviations: a gesture of the hand, a hesitation, a moment where the scenery gives way to character.
- 10.30 to 14.00
- max. 5 participants
- lunch included
- book included

Maastricht is full of surprises
Really, I could not take my eyes off it the last time I was there. People head into the centre with purpose, to the smart shops and that wonderful bookshop.
I saw an extraordinary number of people in suits, well dressed, strolling through a city that feels almost foreign in its beauty. Old alleys, long streets. Water and squares. I added Maastricht to the cities where I teach with a great deal of pleasure.
The workshops below are for beginners and for people who have held a camera plenty of times before. I am certain I can teach you to look differently.
I came away from Michiel’s workshop with a lot of inspiration. He takes you along and helps you get over the fear of photographing other people. A very enthusiastic photographer. Highly recommended!Egbert de Ruiter, group street photography workshop
Street photography workshop in Maastricht
Maastricht, the city on the Meuse, has a unique mix of history and modernity. We wander through old streets. We will of course take in the Stokstraat; this narrow street is a time machine. Old townhouses and cobbles. A tip: leave your heels at home. Here you find boutiques with antiques, jewellery and art. It is the place in Maastricht where craft and tradition come together.
We will not skip the Vrijthof either. This square is the beating heart of Maastricht. The imposing Sint-Servaas basilica and the Sint-Janskerk stand next to modern terraces and cafes. From this square we wander on through the city. Maastricht is not only picturesque but lively as well. It is a city where you can enjoy culture, good food and a relaxed atmosphere. It is well worth staying on after the workshop for a long lunch, or with a good glass of wine while the photogenic people of Maastricht file past.
In the workshop I teach you to hunt and to fish. We look at lines and photographic composition. And if you have questions of your own, we cover those too.
