Michiel Heijmans (1974) is a photographer, writer, and speaker. His work lies at the intersection of portrait photography, street photography, and documentary photography. People are central to his images: raw, honest, at ease, always real. His workshops are known for their depth and personal approach.
In 2025, he appeared as a street photography expert on the RTL 4 program Het Perfecte Plaatje (The Perfect Picture).
Michiel gives workshops in the Netherlands and abroad (including Paris and London), published The Observer and the Straatfotobijbel and the e-book De Wet van de Straat(The Law of the Street), and hosts the photography podcast 30 Minuten Sluitertijd(30 Minutes Shutter Speed).
His experience as former COO of SEO company Yoast enables him to switch seamlessly between content, education, and strategy.
He works independently and on commission, and regularly speaks at events, including for CameraNu and various photography clubs in the Netherlands and Belgium. He also gives photography workshops and lectures for companies and schools.
“Photography is pausing to consider what usually goes unnoticed.”
📍Based in Wijchen, available for assignments in the Netherlands and abroad.
