A workshop is an investment. And when you invest something, you want to know what you get in return. Logical. So let's take a closer look at that. Not with dry numbers, but with the complete picture. What does a weekend like this really cost you - and what does it deliver?
You book the workshop. That is the starting point. Then you decide how to fill in the rest. Some participants take the train because they like to get off in the middle of the city and get in the mood on the way. Others fly because it is quick and easy. You can make it as comfortable as you like.

Staying in London
And as for accommodation: London is big, but certainly not inaccessible. Around our starting locations are hotels and B&Bs in different price ranges. Often, it is especially useful to choose something that gives you a quiet morning. Get up, coffee, camera, hit the streets. No rush, no fuss. That's profit even before you've taken a picture.
I previously stayed at Paddington Station, 20 train minutes from the city centre. Of course, that's cheaper than the Marriot/Citizen M hotel on Southbank where I also stayed before. I really liked the latter!

Further? A metro map, some coffee and something to eat at lunch. Maybe an evening meal with the group, where often the best conversations arise. Stories about pictures that just didn't work out and are therefore so instructive. And about that image that someone unexpectedly did capture. That moment when everyone enjoys the moment, you should almost put it on the receipt. Pure energy.
One of the participants from Paris told the other day that the money quickly faded in her mind, but the feeling remained. She kept talking about that one picture she was still proud of. "That's what I did this weekend for," she said. "Not for the train tickets."
And that's also what it's all about for me: what this gives you in your development. You know that feeling of being in a kind of photographic in-between zone? You know you can do more, but you're just not getting it out at home? Well, this weekend will help you get out of that. You dive into your photography for two days, with a group of people who understand exactly why you get excited by a beautiful shadow or a crazy reflective window.
When you get home, you move on. You keep feeling the rhythm. You have new audacity. You wait longer, choose differently, trust your own eye more. That's an investment that doesn't stop once you get back.
Money can be earned again. Time doesn't. Opportunities don't. Inspiration certainly not. But you can organise it. By travelling somewhere that excites you, where you feel for a moment why this is your passion.
And if you're smart about it, a weekend in London doesn't have to be a mega-spend at all. It can be just right: achievable, affordable and hugely rewarding.
So yes, there are costs. But what it gives you, you carry that with you for years to come.
Want to check out the options, or see together what is the best plan for you? I'd love to think with you. Because if you feel you are ready for a step forward, then this weekend may be just what you are looking for.
