What does a day look like?
We start with a short briefing. Then we walk a route. You get assignments while we photograph. At the end, we discuss the work and learn from each other. You will later receive my detailed input on your photos by e-mail.
Is the workshop suitable if I come alone?
Yes. Many participants come alone. That works just fine. You focus more on your own story and connect easily in the group. my experience is that we quickly get used to each other and sociability often quickly takes over. You all have similar challenges after all!
What level do I need?
When you know how your camera works, you are ready to go. You learn by doing and by watching. Differentiation arises from the way you interpret the assignments and I am happy to guide you in this. This makes the workshop really suitable for both advanced and beginners.
What if it rains?
Well, it's still London in autumn. But the outdoors of September and October are really over. We photograph on. Rain is image. Umbrellas, reflections. I'll show you how to take advantage of it.
How much do you walk in a day?
About eight to 10 kilometres. With breaks. It also depends a bit on the extent to which we decide to get lost together, and deviate from the route I have made for us. Good shoes are your best friend.
Can I shoot both colour and black and white?

Of course. We look at what works for each scene. In a colour photograph, colour often has a leading role, think of places like Soho with lots of red, and in a still photograph, for example in Barbican, black and white can be very apt again.
What about portrait rights?
Respect is paramount, always. I teach you how to photograph with confidence in crowded places. Want to know more about how it's done in the Netherlands, and take that basics with you to London, please check here.
And after London?
In 2026, I am organising similar workshops in Paris, Hamburg, Zurich and Prague.
