Retrieved from Friday 3 and Saturday 4 October 2025 I am organising a two-day street photography workshop in Prague, Czech Republic. Prague is massively visited by tourists for its historic buildings, dynamic streets and rich culture.
Prague is a city that invites you to capture the beauty and history of Europe at a glance. From the old town with its cobbled streets and impressive castles to the modern atmosphere on the banks of the Vltava - everywhere there is a story waiting to be captured. Here you will experience a unique blend of light and shadow, and a fascinating interplay between the ancient architecture and the vibrant city energy.
My street photography workshop in Prague offers you the chance to look beyond classic tourist images. You will learn to capture unique moments and subtle human interactions, the kind of images only a trained eye can see. With me as your guide and motivator, you will gain valuable insights into composition, timing and atmosphere - and learn how to tell Prague's story in your photos.
Take this opportunity to take your skills to the next level and experience Prague in a whole new way. My workshops are for beginners and advanced photographers. Basic knowledge of your camera is required.
"Michiel runs fantastic street photography workshops. Followed it in London. Was well organised, great routes through the city, nice group, relaxed atmosphere and lots of inspiration. My next one with Michiel is Paris. Do it!!! It's almost addictive."

Street photography in Prague: a historical experience
Do you love photography and want to take on a new challenge? Do you want to discover a city that will surprise and inspire you? Then my street photography workshop in Prague is for you!
Prague is a city where history and modern charm blend seamlessly. Here you will meet a unique combination of cultures, architectural styles and stories, all ready to be captured. The city stimulates you to look further and further, discover new details and capture special moments. Prague continues to surprise - whether you wander its narrow alleys or capture the hustle and bustle of its squares. In this fascinating street photography workshop, together we will discover Prague's soul and give it its own place in your images.
Under the guidance of Michiel Heijmans
I am Michiel Heijmans, a Dutch street photographer. Together with Niels de Kemp, I host the photography podcast 30 Minuten Sluitertijd and recently released the book The Observer, with a selection of my favourite street photos (Komma Publishers, 2024). I also wrote the textbook the Street Photography Bible for Photofacts Academy. I also regularly write columns in Focus Magazine, the photography magazine of the Netherlands. I have an unlimited passion for street photography and a talent for transferring my knowledge and enthusiasm (others say!). I will guide you along the most interesting and photogenic locations in the city. My goal: to give you all the feedback and advice you need to improve your photos and develop your own style.
Who is this workshop for?
The workshop lasts for two days, from 10am to 3pm, and is suitable and challenging for all levels, from beginners to advanced. All you need is a camera, be it an SLR, a system camera, a compact camera or a smartphone. You will learn how to look at a city differently and create beautiful compositions. You will learn how best to deal with light, shadow, colour, movement and perspective. You will learn how to photograph people without disturbing or offending them.
You will learn how to make your own tell a story with your photos. You will learn this by doing and by watching myself and others! I also have a number of assignments for you during the day, which force you to look differently. These assignments are always very well received, because they provide focus. The sum total of the assignments makes you look at your surroundings better and differently, which results in better photos!
Prague? Perfect for travelling!
For the participating Dutch: Prague by train is really easy to travel. I myself travel first class for 70 euros one way. Second class is possible from around 55 euros. So that's cheap and sustainable. Prices from hotels change, but Prague is not necessarily a very expensive city. You can find fine hotels for reasonable prices. Public transport is fine with trams.
Register quickly as places are limited. Don't miss this opportunity to take your photography to the next level and discover a unique city. I look forward to seeing you in Prague! 📸
"After Utrecht and Amsterdam, I joined Michiel's workshop for the third time - in Nijmegen, the city of my youth. Learning to look better again and street photography feels more and more comfortable. After the workshop, you get feedback on a number of photos, which is also very valuable. And apart from all that learning, they are also just very sociable workshops with nice people!"
