This Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June 2026 I am hosting a two-day street photography workshop in Paris, France. Paris is flooded with visitors every year for its iconic monuments, bustling squares and unmistakable atmosphere.
15% discount if you book before 31 December! From 695, now only 591 euros!
Paris is more than the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. It is a city of contrasts: the sophisticated cafés along the Champs-Élysées juxtaposed with the raw energy of the street performers in Belleville, the quiet beauty of the Jardin du Luxembourg juxtaposed with the lively buzz of the Marché Bastille. Here, the light changes with every step - from the soft morning glow on the Seine to the dramatic shadows in the alleys of Le Marais. Paris breathes art, romance and stories waiting to be captured.
My Paris street photography workshop is designed to make you look beyond postcards. We will explore the real Paris: the intimate moments between people on the street, quiet moments near centuries-old buildings, and the special reflections in the windows of authentic shops. Together we will learn how to use composition and light to capture the uniqueness of the city. With my guidance, you will learn how to make not just a photograph, but an image that tells a story - your story of Paris.
I teach this workshop in black and white, and will explore with you images that will be more fine-art than raw street life. Stillness, shadows and pools of light. Silhouettes. During our walks, we look for fishing spots and get lost when we deviate from the earmarked route. Google Maps is our friend to still make it in time. un verre de vin to order.
My workshops are for beginners and advanced students. Basic knowledge of your camera is required.
"Michiel runs fantastic street photography workshops. Followed it in London. Was well organised, nice routes through the city, nice group, relaxed atmosphere and lots of inspiration. I am going definitely one more time. Do it!!! It's almost addictive."

Street photography in Paris: a classic experience
Do you love photography and want to take on a new challenge? Do you want to discover a city that will surprise and inspire you? Then my street photography workshop in Paris is for you!
Paris is the city where classic black-and-white photography comes to life. The timeless charm of the cobbled streets of Montmartre, the elegant silhouettes on the Pont Neuf and the play of light and shadow in the alleys of the Pantheon area evoke the atmosphere of the great masters like Cartier-Bresson. The soft Parisian light and unique architecture provide the perfect canvas for high-contrast images full of depth and emotion. As a street photographer, I would love to help you capture these classic moments. With my guidance, you will learn how to use composition, timing and atmosphere to create images that not only capture the character of Paris, but I also try to let you discover your own black-and-white style.
Under the guidance of Michiel Heijmans
I have an unlimited passion for portrait and street photography and a talent for imparting my knowledge and enthusiasm (say others!). I will guide you through the most interesting and photogenic locations in the city. My goal: To give you all the feedback and advice you need to improve your photos and develop your own style.
Who is this workshop for?
The workshop lasts for two days, from 10am to 3pm, and is suitable and challenging for all levels, from beginners to advanced. All you need is a camera, be it an SLR, a system camera, a compact camera or a smartphone. You will learn how to look at a city differently and create beautiful compositions. You will learn how best to deal with light, shadow, colour, movement and perspective. You will learn how to photograph people without disturbing or offending them.
You will learn how to make your own tell a story with your photos. You will learn this by doing and by watching myself and others! I also have a number of assignments for you during the day, which force you to look differently. These assignments are always very well received, because they provide focus. The sum of the assignments makes you look at your surroundings better and differently, which results in more beautiful photos!
Paris? An easy travel destination!
For the participating Dutch: Paris by train is really easy to travel. You end up with somewhere between €50 and €150, in my experience (one way). So that is manageable and sustainable. Prices of hotels change, and in Paris, prices vary by location. I myself am a fan of the B&B Hotels chain, simple but fine, but can also enjoy a chain like CitizenM. Public transport is fine with subways.
Register quickly as places are limited. Don't miss this opportunity to improve and refine your photography and discover a unique city. I look forward to seeing you in Paris! 📸
This workshop will take place on 5 and 6 June 2026
"After Utrecht and Amsterdam, I joined Michiel's workshop for the third time - in Nijmegen, the city of my youth. Learning to look better again and street photography feels more and more comfortable. After the workshop, you get feedback on a number of photos, which is also very valuable. And apart from all that learning, they are also just very sociable workshops with nice people!"
– Ingrid Claassen, participant group street photography workshop
