As a journalist, editor or magazine maker, you want an editorial portrait to be instantly right. It must fit the tone of the article, be usable in the layout and be delivered on time. You do not need long explanations, but a photographer who understands how an editorial works, can switch quickly and creates the right image without fuss.
I provide editorial portraits that can be used immediately in print and online. From quick portraits accompanying a news interview to extensive photo sessions for background articles, columns or themed issues.

Thinking along from the start
A good portrait starts with the story. Often, a brief consultation with the journalist or editor-in-chief is enough to know what atmosphere and look are needed. Based on this, I choose the right setting, pay attention to light and space and make sure the photo reinforces the story. This can be done in five minutes in a busy office, outside in rainy weather or in a quiet setting at the person portrayed's home. Always purposeful, without wasting time.
Image matching the layout
An editorial portrait should do more than just show someone. It has to work in combination with text and title. That is why I always photograph with the layout in mind. I make sure there is space for text and captions, provide in-demand horizontal and vertical images and match the house style and atmosphere of the medium. All images go to the editor in high resolution, in colour and/or black-and-white.
Fast, independent and hassle-free
I understand that editors work with tight deadlines. That is why I work independently and take over the image piece completely from you. You can focus on the content, while I make sure there is an image on time that can be posted immediately. My experience with trade journals, magazines, publishers and online platforms ensures that I know exactly what is needed. I think along, solve problems on the spot and always deliver within the agreed time.
The convenience of a permanent photographer
Many of my assignments come from companies and agencies that hire me more often. The advantage is that we know each other's way of working. I know which images suit your publication and you know that I deliver what is needed. That means fewer explanations, fewer tuning rounds and a consistent visual language throughout multiple editions. This makes working together more efficient and gives your magazine or platform a recognisable look.

Even if you yourself are portrayed
Not only editors come to me for an editorial portrait. Also authors, speakers, entrepreneurs and other professionals who themselves appear in an article or at the back of a book, opt for a photo session that matches the story. In that case, I provide an image that looks professional but is not too posed. I often photograph on location, at your home, workplace or somewhere that tells something about you. You are relaxed in front of the camera and I take care of the technical part.
This is how a session works
Creating an editorial portrait does not have to be complicated. We start with a short briefing by phone or email, in which we discuss the angle, atmosphere and location. At the agreed location, I work quickly and efficiently so that the image is there in a short time. Selection and delivery always follow within the agreed deadline, in high resolution and including black-and-white versions.
Technically always in order
I deliver files that are immediately suitable for publication. That means the right resolution, colour profiles and formats, without the need for additional editing. So the image can go straight to layout and you save precious time at the editorial office.I photograph quickly, with attention and without fuss. With room for spontaneous moments, but always with the final image in my head. The result is an editorial portrait that hits exactly the right tone. Note: if you have an image editor who monitors your house style, I naturally deliver to those specifications or unedited.
Why choose my photography
My work matches the dynamics of an editorial office. I understand the importance of timing, deliver reliably and know how to create images that work in the context of a story. In addition, my background as an entrepreneur helps: I communicate clearly, take responsibility and think solution-focused.
