Want to start with photography and lay the right foundation right away? My street photography workshop is for beginners and advanced photographers. You will discover how easy and accessible street photography is. You will not only learn about the technical aspects of your camera, but also how to look at the world around you with fresh eyes. This is the perfect opportunity to start your photography journey with confidence!
Bonus: because of the small group, you learn not only from me, but definitely from each other. I have already experienced several times that participants keep in touch and later start photographing together!
Street photography: an accessible way to learn to look
Street photography is one of the most accessible forms of photography. It is not about big lenses or elaborate equipment, but about learning to see the moments around you. The spontaneous nature and focus on reacting quickly make street photography ideal for beginners. You will learn to anticipate, see stories and create images that impress - without complicated settings.
During the workshop, we will start with a default setting for your camera, if required. From this base, you will learn how to make adjustments to light or moving subjects, for example. This gives you a solid technical foundation while giving you plenty of room to experiment creatively.
Why this photography workshop for beginners is really for you
My photography workshop for beginners is distinguished by its personalised approach. In a small group of no more than 5 people, you get plenty of space to ask questions and receive immediate feedback. Because the groups are small, I can fully tailor the workshop to your level and goals. This makes the experience not only instructive, but also very inspiring.
Street Photography teaches you to shoot with confidence wherever you are. Whether you are exploring a bustling city on a city break or want to capture special moments on your next holiday, you will have the skills and confidence to create beautiful images.
Why Michiel Heijmans?
With years of experience in street photography, I know exactly how to help beginners take their first steps. I am not only a photographer, but also the author of books such as The Observer and Straatfotobijbel. I am happy to share this knowledge with you so that you make faster progress.
I also work with fixed starting points in settings, so you won't be overwhelmed by technical details. From these basics, I teach you how to adapt the settings to the situation, whether it has to do with bright sunlight, shadow or moving subjects. The result? You go home with practical knowledge you can apply immediately.
What can you expect?
The photography workshop for beginners offers an ideal mix of theory and practice, with an emphasis on lots of practice! Before we start, you get my book (or another photography bible of your choice, plus an instructional video with more information. You'll be well prepared. In the workshops themselves, we mainly go out and practice directly in an inspiring environment. During the workshop, you will get practical tips on light, composition and timing. If you submit five photos afterwards, you will receive constructive feedback so that you continue to learn.
