Paris is not just a city. Paris is a feeling. A street scene that touches you. A light that makes you pause for a moment. A place where, as a photographer, you don't have to invent anything, but only look. And to feel. That is where photography begins - exactly as it once began, on those same Parisian streets.
During this photography trip, I will take you to those places. Not to take as many photos as possible, but to learn to look better. We wander through quiet passages, get lost in the narrow streets of Belleville, look for shadow in Père Lachaise and light in Montmartre. And above all: we photograph what touches us. In black and white. In peace and quiet. Together.
"Paris is always a good idea."
Audrey Hepburn
Who is this trip for?
This journey is for you if you long for time and attention for your photography. If you feel the pressure to perform all the time and just want to relax. If you would like to go to Paris to photograph, but not necessarily alone. You don't need to be an experienced photographer, just curious. About the city, about yourself and about what you can capture in images.
We don't go for the perfect record, but for the story. For the moment when you feel: yes, this is right. Whether it's a weathered facade, a deserted alley, a shadow across a passage or an encounter on the street. You look, you feel, you print.
The magic of black and white
In colour, Paris is beautiful, but in black and white, the city tells a different story. More timeless. More intense. Sometimes even more honest. On this photography trip, I will help you discover that story. You will learn how light and contrast can carry your composition. How shadow is as important as what you see. And how you choose black and white consciously, as a form of expression. How you learn to see in black and white.
You don't have to be a technical all-rounder. This journey is all about feeling. About learning to look. And learning to let go.
With a small group through Paris
We go with a small group of no more than six participants. So that there is room for personal attention, conversations and silence. So you can get lost at your own pace, but also share what you see. No fixed route, but a carefully composed programme with enough freedom. And always with guidance.
We explore familiar places such as Montmartre, but also rawer neighbourhoods like Belleville. We visit Père Lachaise, one of the most photogenic cemeteries in the world, and walk through the covered Passages de Paris. All of them places that invite you to slow down. To really look.
Why join this photography trip?
You can go alone, of course. But you see more together. You hear how others see things, discover places you would otherwise miss, get feedback that is really useful. And you have me as your guide and photographer, with an eye for images and atmosphere. I will help you get more out of your photography, whether you are just starting out or have been photographing for years.
As Thomas Jefferson once said:
A walk about Paris will provide lessons in history, beauty, and in the point of life.
And that is exactly what we are going to do.
